Art in Translation (AIT) publishes the best writing from around the world on the visual arts, architecture, and design in English translation. The journal was launched on 26 February 2009 with generous funding from Getty Foundation, Los Angeles. Initially published three times a year, Art in Translation increased its frequency to four times a year, starting with volume 3.1 in 2011.

Art in Translation is published by Taylor and Francis, Routledge.

"The growing interest in the practice of translating words by artists or about art is reflected in the 2009 founding of the journal Art in Translation, which publishes translations of art writings and occasional critical studies of [cultural] translation. Claudia Hopkins and Iain Boyd Whyte, as co-editors of Art in Translation, recently oversaw an extensive two-volume anthology of translations into English of European writings on American art, entitled Hot Art, Cold War (2020). Translating Warhol extends that publication's exploration of how the art of the United States was understood abroad in the mid to the later twentieth century.
