Rachel Everitt

Rachel has been working with the animation department at ECA since 2008. She has a particular interest in methods that combine hand crafted traditions with new technology whist maintaining rich textures that come from working non-digital materials. She divides her time between eca and working from her studio, where she works predominately with drypoint etching and other printmaking techniques.
She directed an animated film which premiered on Channel Four in 2001, won ‘Best Short Animation’ at the Moondance Film Festival in 2002, and screened at the Edinburgh International Festival and several other festivals. She then worked with the Edinburgh-based animation company RedKite on a number of animated films. Rachel also led many animation workshops in schools around Scotland, with one of her school projects picking an award for the ‘Best Children’s Film’ at the International Festival of Animation in Ottawa in 2003 and the Engage Scotland ‘Visual Arts Education Award for Improving Mental Health and Well Being’ in 2005.
