Some Time Afterwards

some plants need to be cut back to grow.

sometimes I wish you hadn’t gone           but

some days the sun shines          and

some November nights reveal starlit skies.

sometimes I wish you hadn’t gone           but

some stars are the suns to planets like ours             and

some November nights reveal a sky so cold it shivers.

some plants recover from cold shocks, but their leaves do not.

some stars are the suns to planets like ours.

some days a billion suns shine at once            and

some plants grow new leaves.

some plants need to be cut back to grow.
