WINNER OF THE GRIERSON PRIZE 2026

Caitlin Palmer is an American-born writer and current master’s student at The University of Edinburgh. Although she studies poetry, she enjoys writing both poetry and prose in her free time. She credits her grandfather for introducing her to the joy of reading and her upbringing in rural Connecticut for fostering her love of writing – having given her both gorgeous scenery and space to breathe. When she is not writing, she can be found on FaceTime with her dog, Bubba, or cafe-hopping her way around the city. She has previously been published in “From Arthur’s Seat” and Midnight Ireland.

“It has been such a privilege to study at UoE, where my work has been so improved both by feedback from my classmates and from my wonderful professors, who I’d especially like to thank: Miriam Gamble, Alan Gillis, Karen McCarthy Woolf, and Jane McKie. To be recognized amongst so much other talent feels surreal and very humbling – truly a highlight of my time here.”
