SPECIAL MENTION LEWIS EDWARDS MEMORIAL PRIZE 2026
Lea Lang is a history student from Munich who recently completed a year at the University of Edinburgh. Her academic work focuses on empire, culture, and the histories people tell about themselves. She writes fiction mostly out of curiosity about language, memory, and the words that disappear just before we need them. “Lethologica: On the Removal of Words” was her first attempt at submitting creative work for a literary prize.
“I was incredibly honoured to receive a Special Mention for “Lethologica: On the Removal of Words,” especially given the many entries this year. It means a great deal to know that the judges connected with a piece that experimented so heavily with language, structure, and tone in such an unusual way.”
