Overview of publications
Here we will keep a list of the scientific publications of our project.
- In this paper, we investigate what happens when people use gesture and improvise to communicate with each other in the lab. We show that the word orders they use become increasingly regular over time (by Marieke Schouwstra, Kenny Smith, and Simon Kirby).
- This paper in Cognitive Science shows that word order matters in the interpretation of improvised gesture, but that production and interpretation in this setting differ in fundamental ways (by Marieke Schouwstra, Henriette de Swart, and Bill Thompson).
- This paper (to appear in Language) investigates the origins of word order in the Noun Phrase (by Jennifer Culbertson, Marieke Schouwstra, and Simon Kirby).
- This paper in Language and Cognition investigates the effect of iconicity on artificial sign learning (by Asha Sato, Molly Flaherty, Marieke Schouwstra, and Simon Kirby) .
