CDCS Cancelled Conference Conference

Dr Alison Mayne delivered a cracking oral presentation at the inaugral CDCS Cancelled Conference Conference held virtually via Zoom on 16th June 2020. As conferences around the world have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Centre for Data, Culture & Society provided a platform for digital scholars to share their latest ideas and data-led papers online.

Dr Alison Mayne discussed our paper summarising the initial VRinMind workshop and some of the emering findings from the literature on virtual reality for mindfulness, meditation and relaxation that can be used for the management of chronic pain on behalf of the research team. An interesting Q&A followed with many questions around the types of VR hardware and software used, what facilitated co-design and with some developments in these technologies. It was a great learning experience to join an online community for a conference and something we’ll explore more in the future!
