Technicians Highly Commended in 2024/25 Changemaker Awards

Several Technicians have been recognised as Highly Commended in the 2024/2025 Changemaker Awards.

The Changemaker Award recognises current students and staff who have made a noticeable positive impact by undertaking an impactful socially responsible or sustainable project or by inspiring others to act in a more  socially responsible or sustainable way.

23 University staff, students and groups have been named as Changemakers in 2024-25, with a further 12 individuals and groups receiving highly commended recognition.

A celebratory event was held on Thursday 15 May at the Cabaret Bar and Upper Hall, Pleasance. During this event, the Changemakers received their certificates and networked with fellow recipients. Aidan Tracey, Social Impact Manager and Lucy Patterson, Climate and Sustainability in the Curriculum Coordinator, presented the awards

4 Technicians or teams including technicians were highly commended for their work encouraging social responsibility.

Sally Morgan from University of Edinburgh School of Engineering was recognised for being instrumental in aligning the technician action plan with sustainable research.  Sally is the Technical Manager for the School of Engineering, and the Chair of the Technician Steering Committee.

Gordon  is a Research Laboratory Technician in the School of Engineering  and was highly commended for his outstanding dedication to sustainability within our Chemical Engineering Teaching Labs.

The team of technicians at the Edinburgh College of Art Materials Hub were recognised for Improving sustainability and circularity at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), raising awareness of their resources and among students at ECA.
Robyn Rogers was part of the Heritage Collections’ Conservation and Collection Management Team, who were recognised for their innovation to reduce single-use materials in Heritage Collections.
Congratulations to all our technicians who were nominated and recognised for these awards.
