Visit to the Royal Observatory of Edinburgh – Val Gordon

An invitation from our Physics tutor, Nick Hood to visit the Royal Observatory Edinburgh with our Professional Graduate Diploma in Education Physics students provided a fantastic shared experience and a good visibility, recognition and development opportunity for me.

As a technician, it was good to be included and feel valued as part of the student experience. I was also pleased to see technicians credited on this first information board.

If you have any similar experiences of technician visibility and recognition, it would be good to hear from you. Please get in touch to promote good practice and the Technician Commitment, by contacting the TSSG at techcom@ed.ac.uk

As well as being an experienced technician based at Moray House, Val Gordon is our Regional Network Coordinator for HEaTED, an active member of the TSSG, and now Project Coordinator for the UoE Technician Commitment, as part of her secondment to HR.
