My summer plans in Edinburgh…

As I sit down to write about my summer plans in Edinburgh, I’m feeling a mix of excitement and a bit of stress. This summer is a pivotal one for me, as it’s all about finishing my master’s program and stepping into the professional world. Here’s what I’ve got lined up.
First and foremost, my dissertation is a top priority. With a target of 15,000 words, it’s an enormous task that requires meticulous research, writing, and editing. Writing a dissertation is pretty intense, and sometimes it feels like the pressure is never-ending. To make it manageable, I’m approaching it day by day, setting small, achievable goals. This strategy helps me stay on track without feeling too overwhelmed. Every day, I’m chipping away at it, ensuring steady progress. The process is slow and demanding, but it’s the only way to complete it without losing my sanity. In addition to my dissertation, I’m also in job-hunting mode. With my master’s program wrapping up in September, I need to secure a job soon. I’ve been actively applying for positions and attending interviews in both Edinburgh and London. The job search is a bit nerve-wracking, but it’s also really exciting to think about starting my career. Each interview brings me a step closer to that goal, and I’m hopeful for some positive news soon.

Despite all the academic and professional pressures, I’m making sure to enjoy the beautiful Edinburgh summer. The city is stunning this time of year, and I don’t want to miss out on its charm. One of my favorite activities is simply walking around the city, exploring its picturesque streets and discovering new spots. Climbing Arthur’s Seat is a must-do for me; the panoramic view from the top is incredible and makes the climb worthwhile. I also love spending time at North Berwick Beach, which is half hour away from Edinburgh by train, very convenient to get there. There’s something so calming about the waves and the sea breeze – it’s the perfect escape from the demands of my dissertation and job search.
Golf in the Meadows
When I need a break, I head over to The Meadows for a round of golf, which is close to university library. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The open green spaces and the laid-back atmosphere make it a fun way to unwind from all the studying and job hunting. Golfing there provides a perfect balance between leisure and physical activity, helping me stay refreshed. Another highlight of my summer is the festival season in August. The Fringe and the Edinburgh International Festival are events I’m eagerly anticipating. It will be my first time experiencing these renowned festivals, and I’ve heard that the city comes alive with an array of performances, from theatre to music to art. It’s a fantastic opportunity to soak up some culture and enjoy the lively atmosphere. The festivals promise a plethora of surprising and amazing experiences, and I’m looking forward to immersing myself in them.
So, that’s my summer in a nutshell. Balancing the demands of my dissertation, job hunting, and enjoying the vibrant city life is a bit of a juggling act, but I’m determined to make the most of it.
