…by Rowetta / from Edinburgh / studying International Business / 2nd year

Edinburgh is a city of rich history and culture, renowned for its many festivals and stunning architecture, and there is always something going on with plenty of choices to suit everyone! This article moves past the typical tourist attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, and Calton Hill (which I highly recommend visiting as must-see things to do in Edinburgh for your first few days) and instead delves into several unique day-out ideas. Whether it be hanging out with your friends, a celebratory event, or just a way to pass some time, here are 5 exciting things to do in Edinburgh!

Overview

  1. Puppy Yoga
  2. Ninja Warriors Adventure Park
  3. Doodles Ceramics
  4. Xtreme Karting
  5. Sing City Karaoke

Puppy Yoga

Location: Eric Liddell Community Centre or Crags Centre.

Opening Times: Dependent on ticket.

Enjoy a fun day out whilst caring for your physical and mental well-being at Puppy Yoga Edinburgh! Each class involves 30 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes of playtime with the puppies. It is the perfect combination as both puppies and yoga can help decrease stress and blood levels as well as many other significant health benefits. Not only this, but it is also beneficial for the puppies who get used to human interaction and socialising! Be sure to book early in advance as this popular event is often sold out fast!

Ninja Warriors

Opening Times: Mon-Fri: 11am-7pm. Sat-Sun: 10am-7pm.

An enjoyable way to test your physical strength and have fun is at Ninja Warriors Adventure Park! Inspired by the hit ITV show, this replica has many fun obstacles and inflatables suitable for a wide range of ages and ability levels. This definitely was a challenging (and humbling….) experience for me and my siblings and I truly admire those who complete it on the real show!

Doodles Ceramics

Location: 29 Marchmonth Crescent. EH9 1HQ.

Opening Times: Mon, Fri, Sat: 10am-6pm. Tue, Wed, Thur: 10:30am-9pm. Sun: 11am-6pm.

Unleash your creativity with pottery or try your hand at wheel throwing and more at Doodles Ceramics! Prices are based on your choice of pottery and Doodles provides the materials and space, even having a take-home kit if you prefer instead! They often hold workshops and classes too to further improve your skills. This is a perfect spot for a relaxing day and especially for art-lovers!

Test your speed and enjoy the thrill with Central Scotland’s largest indoor karting track, Xtreme Karting. They provide the uniform, briefing, and you also get to add a profile picture for your character to race against your friends and family for the fastest time! They also offer escape rooms and combat laser tag so there is plenty to engage with!
