A special thank you to colleagues in NHS Fife who, despite the challenges of the pandemic, have gives us their time to attend training and record their use of Talking Mats™ so that we might learn how to adapt them for use in forensic LD settings.

Since February we have been working to start our data collection and facilitate LD nurses using Talking Mats™ on the ward. Four nurses from across two wards have completed in-person training delivered by Susan Gowland. As of April 2021, we have also recruited three clients who have kindly agreed to try Talking Mats™ and give us their feedback.

Data collection is projected to run until mid-summer, with video recordings of the mats reviewed every month. We are excited to begin analysing the feedback and data we receive from nurses and clients.
