Collective: Week 7

Collective meeting:

This week the Collective met online via Teams. We discussed how and when we would be using the Summerhill space in the up-and-coming weeks of independent collective work.

We decided to divide into smaller groups of approximately three individuals who would lead one of the sessions over the next weeks. I will be part of the group leading and developing  the first session, taking place on the 14th of March alongside Xi Sun, and Xiaoyu Kang.

Considering the compulsory trip that we all took to the Glasgow based galleries: the Hunterian Art Gallery and Museum, the Tramway Gallery, and the Gallery of Modern Art, we decided that this collective opportunity would be a helpful time to discuss our thoughts and opinions on these different institutions, especially as organisational specifics varied vastly between the different spaces.

Secondly, we decided that we would also be able to use the time to pool collective knowledge to discuss specific difficulties that we have encountered in the development of our individual curatorial projects, embracing a paragogical peer learning environment to advance our individual work.

Lastly, we suggested discussing some of the smaller scale specifics of exhibition making, such as gallery texts and associated publications (such as leaflets and other gallery hand out materials). This could also take the shape of a group reading of some related texts.
