In the process of planning the exhibition The Plasticity of Life, I carefully considered how the spatial layout interacts with the audience’s experience. Given that the exhibition involves a certain level of immersion, sensory stimulation, and participatory behaviour, it is essential to implement clear guidance and warning notices throughout the space. These notices aim to ensure visitor safety and comfort while maintaining the integrity of the artworks. All notices are presented in both English and Chinese to ensure accessibility and clarity for an international audience.
In addition, trained volunteers and staff will be stationed throughout the venue to assist visitors and safeguard the artworks, especially in areas that involve interactive or fragile installations.
Entrance
At the main entrance of the exhibition, which is a prominent place before visitors enter the exhibition, I plan to post a warning notice. The warning clearly states that the exhibition contains elements of immersive experience such as dim lighting, spray effects, and confined spaces, which may cause discomfort to people . Such reminders are not only for ethical and safety reasons, but also show care and respect for different audience groups.

Guidance and Safety Instructions
In the exhibition movement line, I pay special attention to the installation of guidance signs, including reminders of obstacles or stairs (such as ‘Be careful with the steps.’), as well as adding clear directional arrows and zone descriptions at the corners of the staircases or areas where the content of the exhibition is switched, such as ‘Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3’. In addition, emergency exits are installed at the exits of the exhibition halls: ‘Emergency exit – please do not block’, to ensure that the audience can quickly identify and evacuate in case of emergencies.
Directional Signs:
•Exhibition Part 1 →Externalisation：adapts to environment
This section explores how life forms adapt and respond to their external surroundings. Through immersive visual and auditory installations, viewers will experience the dynamic interaction between organisms and the ever-changing environment, reflecting nature’s resilience and adaptability.
•Exhibition Part 2 →Internalisation：experiences trauma
In a dimly lit, mist-filled space designed to evoke feelings of uncertainty and vulnerability, this section addresses the internal emotional and psychological landscapes formed through traumatic experiences. Through subtle use of sound, light, and shadow, viewers will confront themes of fear, anxiety, isolation, and introspection.
•Exhibition Part 3 →Symbiosis：continually repairs itself
The final section embodies rebirth and healing, symbolising life’s continual cycle of renewal through interactive installations and collaborative artworks bathed in natural light. Here, visitors are encouraged to engage physically and emotionally with art, becoming active participants in a collective process of restoration and self-renewal.
Explanation of the Interactive Area
At the end of the exhibition, I have set up a co-creation interactive installation – a large ‘net’ that has not yet been completed, with a variety of materials such as strings, cloth strips, shopping bag fragments, etc., which the audience can freely choose to symbolically ‘weave’ their own emotions, memories or blessings into it. The audience is free to choose and symbolically ‘weave’ their emotions, memories or blessings into the net. I plan to post a reminder with a brief explanation of how to participate in the weaving behaviour.
