A Little Change
According to the last group supervision, I realized that my previous ideas had some limitations. I have always been thinking about how to provide educational resources and opportunities for women in remote areas, so that they can improve themselves, go out of the countryside and go to the city to find more opportunities and values, instead of being bound by social concepts and family to limit themselves to one identity. Jen made me realize that, why must we let them go out of the countryside? If equal resources and support are provided to rural areas, women in rural areas can also get more opportunities and realize their own values.
The previous idea focused on how to make them “walk out” of the countryside through education, while now I focus more on how to create support and resources in rural areas so that they can have the same opportunities when they stay in their hometown. I think this change of thinking can have an impact on my research and provide a more sustainable solution to the problem.
At the same time, it also gives my project a new inspiration. I would pay more attention to the social role of them, and how to develop communities that will make them stronger through education and assistance, and at the same time make communities more dynamic.
Sorry for the late response on your KIPP project. It is great to hear your have new thoughts on the topic!! I found it really interesting to how you rethink your project from tutor’s feedback. And I really love your concept on why education cannot go direct to the women in rural area. I think that is part of the education future, people will be more flexible on the education resources and environment. And to discover such a concept on women in rural area is outstanding. I think the future of education will developing in a more sustainable standard with more equal rights and choices need to be considered. As gender equality is one of the 17 UN Goals, the specific group of students will brings more useful thoughts and investigation for the audiences.
Our topics are kind of related that both discuss on educational resources and disparity, I think we can have more research on how nowadays situation had been discovered and how we can improve these issues in the future. I may suggest you to have a more specific group of women in certain country or region. And i’m curious on what kind of research methods you will try to explore in this specific topic.
And thanks for you comments on my KIPP project, I hope we can have more connections on our future works. Looking forward to your research and blogs:)
