    Learning Outcome #1. Research: Identify, engage with, and apply a range of contemporary curatorial methods, practices and theories relevant to the commissioning, production, dissemination and archiving of cultural practices.
    Hi Yushan, this is a very clear and well organised presentation, on the theme of ‘Childhood’ well done. Your slides are quite basic, it would be good to have included more images and perhaps some highlights from the text you are reading: remember that visual communication is very important in the arts. For example, when you mention stream of consciousness or dream like atmospheres, how can you show this/explain it: there are lots of texts written by curators, art historians, artists and cultural theorists on these topics. This highlights the need for further curatorial research and criticcal thinking around you project. You mention offline exhibitions are ‘better’: why? It is important to justify your thoughts with references to curating practice, you could look for articles on this in contemporary art journals for example.

    Learning Outcome #2: Practice: Working with your peers, commission, produce, disseminate and archive cultural practices, locating your approach in relation to the expanded field of contemporary curatorial theory and practice.

    Your idea of a participatory exhibition with the public contributing objects is very interesting: could you have contextualised this in relation to major/minor curating and participatory arts practice, we discussed this in the course in Week 1 Thursday seminar. You do however include very strong references to other course content (Week 1 on Care, Week 3 the Talbot Rice workshop and your Memory Objects lesson in Anthropology) and you highlight the importance of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, excellent work. There are practical issues to think about here: how will you invite the public? This type of open way of working can involve a lot of work, ethics, and responsibility to take care of objects, to ensure they are presented correctly. I once created an archive project from public donations, we can talk about this (which reminds me too, that you are proposing making a collection, so it would be good to include references on archiving practices (eg Week 4 Embassy?) You show Museum of Broken relationships as an influence, and this is a successful digital project, is there a way to make this a mixture of online and IRL (offline)? 2-7 days may be realistic, though it does depend on which space, your idea of a University venue is achievable. Could you use the campus map https://www.ed.ac.uk/maps/download to fnd a specific location that has a connection with your theme, an atmosphere that increases the interest and attraction of your project to the public?
