Week 8-11

Design development

 

I initially stated by studying my site area. What the design is trying to convey, the kind of atmosphere that is proposed etc. I developed a lighting strategy based on my design requirements.

Atmosphere – Luxurious, Cosy and Inviting
Strategy – Low ambient light, Accent light and Directional light
Luminaires – Slot of light, Recessed light and Decorative light
With this information I tried to further develop where and how I want my lighting to be in the space. After going through various guidelines to design lighting for an auditorium and many precedent studies, I drew my ideas through conceptual sketches.
I calculated the lumens and the number of luminaires required and plotted them in the plan and section.
I have also included the luminaire specification in the portfolio.
