week6

This week we have been working on a lighting plan for the different target spaces to reflect their most distinctive features. The goal of our group’s task was to turn the original site into a reading and map collection room.
The objective was to create a quiet, softly lit and sufficiently bright environment. The original site, located in the USA, was a fully transparent glasshouse that received excessive daylight from the south during the day. The intensity of daylight is uncontrolled and can interfere with reading in direct sunlight. The collection room also cannot receive more ultraviolet light, which would damage the collection. We have therefore hung the glasshouse with shutters to create a sheltered environment from the sun.
A large lamp was used to illuminate the room and a number of table lamps were used to ensure that the light was supplemented when there was not enough.
