week7 light and color

This week we have been learning about the relationship between light and colour. The course analysed the principles behind the appearance of different colours in various nature. In the workshop I also felt the impact of many colours of light. One of the things that struck me most during a previous study of lighting was the difference in colour between two luminaires that showed the same brightness and colour temperature in the parameters. In my subsequent studies I learned about the concept of colour tolerance and understood the reasons why lights of the same colour temperature show different colours.

In addition, different light colours can be used everywhere in life. For example, fast food restaurants often use warm lighting, which not only increases appetite, but also gives people the desire to take a nap, thus greatly increasing the time customers stay in the restaurant, to some extent increasing the popularity of fast food restaurants, and increasing the chances of customers choosing additional orders such as afternoon tea.

Therefore, when choosing the colour of the light, we mainly need to consider: 1, the impact of the environment on the light 2, the role of the scene in which the light is used 3. the user’s perception of the colour of the light.
