Component 1.5 – Update 4

It’s crunch time. After the holidays, we have wasted no time getting back into the grove of things. There are a number of things that have not panned out the way that we would have hoped. However the group has been incredibly flexible and we are consistently coming up with suitable alternatives.

Our plan of events has changed the most. Both of the workshops have hit considerable  bumps in the road. We have changed the Dream Home workshop to shape the agenda of Community Wellbeing Collective. This allows for an established audience to participate. Additionally, there were concerns about compensation for those that are contributing to the exhibition through this workshop. It was a great lesson to learn and as a group we found it important for us not to exploit the communities that we are trying to highlight. We hope that this solution will be the right one.

We have since decided not to move forward with the Sweat Equity workshop. Due to budget constraints we were unable to progress. However, we are all still keen on screening Minutes (2019) and have come to the solution of hosting it through Edinburgh Student Housing Cooperative’s Queer Film Night. Here we plan to screen the film and have a remote discussion with Winnie about her motivations and process.

We are in the thick of it now and there is considerable progress being made. We are hard at work ironing out our edges and tying loose ends. There is still a ways to go, but I can see the finish line and I am racing towards it.
