Flexible Learning week

During reading week I did research on the Young V&A Museum

and I realized that the interior of the building was very similar to the site of my project.

Introducing Young V&A: a powerhouse of creativity for Generation Alpha • V&A Blog
The similarity of the roof structure and skylight design,

as well as the structural aspect and lighting angle gave me something to learn from.

The interior design of this museum blends modernity with tradition,

showcasing the designer’s subtle use of space, light and materials.

The interior of the building has a staggered layout

that blends open display areas with private viewing spaces.

The designers of the Young V&A Museum have made full use of natural

and artificial light sources to create rich light and shadow effects.

In the daytime, sunlight pours in through the glass curtain wall,

illuminating the exhibits and creating a bright and warm atmosphere;

while at night, soft lighting adds a sense of mystery and artistry to the exhibits.

You can see the similar roof structure as well as the skylights from my site.

A central “town square” space under a barrel-vaulted roof.

With the rotating staircase serving as the entrance to this large space,

I also needed to consider if there was a functional design in my space that would gather the eye.

I found the designer’s drawings to illustrate their design.

The sketches show that the designers attracted visitors to the various floors of the museum

by means of a spiral staircase.

The history of the building as well as details of the interior structure.

From the section,

it can be better reflected that the rotary staircase in the center of the building

is the most central device of the whole space,

not only as a transportation hub, but also as a design symbol of the project.

This reminded me that I also had to come up with a core unit for my project,

not only as a hub, but as a design symbol for my project.
