Week12 POST Install and deinstall
After a semester of preparation and planning, we achieved the final curation this week.
For the installation part of the curation, I did the installation at ECA’s Fire station all day on April 19 and in the morning on April 20. The work of installation is not very tedious, my main items are a large table, two mannequins, and a display area. The mannequin work is cumbersome, because the mannequin I borrowed from Allan does not match my fashion, so I need to borrow it from the teacher in the textile studio. With the help of my mentor and classmates, we successfully contacted Susan, the teacher of the textile studio. The kind Susan gave us two transparent mannequins, which are very suitable for my fashion, so the most important part of my exhibition Props got resolved. Later, I was responsible for adjusting the lighting of the entire venue. I climbed up the ladder and corrected the direction of the lights one by one so that they could shine on our exhibits, so as to improve the curatorial effect. It’s exhausting work, but I’m very happy to be able to contribute to the collective.
In the dismantling part of the exhibits, I disassembled the exhibition on the afternoon of April 21st. This work is not complicated. The only difficult thing is to carry the mannequins back to the textile studio, because these two mannequins are relatively heavy , so it was difficult to complete this task alone, I am glad that my classmate reached out to me, we quickly completed the disassembly task, so far, my curation has achieved
The curation held from April 20th to April 21st is the essence of my work this semester. I am very happy that our collective has perfectly solved this task, and I have also gained many new experiences. I hope that in my future work and study, I can take on the task of curating again. I will continue to maintain my passion and learn more about curating.
