Week 9 | Tutorial with Rachel

24 March 2022

Before the discussion, I give a written summary of my personal project and The Programme respectively.

The programme

Role: Archivist

My job is to collect project content from CAT staff, including a description of their project, the plan for their work, the progress of their work, and their project goals.

The main issue is to have timely communication with each member and to summarise their results in writing.

Question 1: Will my work eventually be compiled for publication? Will the archive be circulated internally or do I need to show it to the general public?

Question 2: Is feedback on my work more reasonable once a week, or is it adjusted according to the course?

Another question: about the Programme Kanban for the Miro board. Neil informed us yesterday that we have to update ours board, but I don’t know how to do it, I  didn’t see my name in any board.

Individual project

My personal project is an outdoor virtual art collection with the theme ‘Art Discovery’ and ‘Online Community’.

The project itself plans to design an exclusive app that will allow players to find virtual artworks in real life. Players use location and scanning functions to access 3D virtual artworks and save them in their electronics. At the same time, players will be able to share their views on the art in an online community within the app.

If, for example, the course required me to make an actual real exhibition, I would borrow Geocaching’s platform as an initial platform to place some artworks in the niche that Geocaching already has. And create a project account on a social media platform. I would use the social media account to declare the content of my project and to post the task of finding the artwork, so that people could participate in the search for the artwork through the content of the account .

The ultimate aim of the project is to free the act of viewing art from the confines of an indoor space, while hoping that the presence of virtual artworks will satisfy the hobby of collecting for art lovers who are short of funds.

Resources I need:

  1. Geocaching

  1. Artwork: virtual artwork available for use by permission, or, real art available for collection by participants.

Question 1: For non-profit purposes, I should be able to download the electronic artworks directly from the museum website, they are basically in photo form.

3D virtual artworks may not be displayed.

Question 2: If I need to borrow the Geocaching platform and place real artworks that can be found, how do I get the funds to purchase the artworks?

3. Social platforms: the choice of social platform may need to be decided by the members of The Programme (try to get all members to use the same software.)

Another question is whether social media platform accounts can work with the Art College? I think this would add credibility and engagement.

Audiences:

Basically young people interested in art seeking, outdoor adventures.

Current progress:

Working on Geocaching

Rachel gave me a lot of specific advice for my personal project during the discussion, for example:

About the Game(App)

  • Name of the App
  • Think about the look of the app (what colour scheme does the app use? What information does the base page need to provide?)
  • Think about why people should download the app. (What should I do in advertisement.)
  • Gameplay. (Rules of the game. Where people use the app (looking for virtual artwork). How people can collect the virtual artwork))

Also I had a discussion with Rachel about Project Book and Critical Reflection.

The contents of Critical Reflection will be documented in the next post.
