Week 8 | Project Crits with Neil
15 March 2022
Project Crits about personal project
It was a group research activity(?), we took turns presenting our projects to different members of the class and taking advice from each other.
As my project is a (temporary) unlikely app, most of the advice I get is about how my software should be made, how it should be presented, how players should be involved and other practical issues.
These are the things I need to work out, plus Professor Neil also gave me advice about the project: I could borrow existing treasure hunting software, such as Geocaching, as my first step in designing the initial version for my project.
Before the discussion, I was very worried about the project because I knew it would be very difficult, and although I had already established that I would not be able to get this software made by myself (the professor indicated that I should not work alone, that I could assign the work of making the software to the right people, and that in general in a project there should be members with specialist skills), the specifics of the project, and how to run it, how to publicise the project, are still issues that need to be addressed.
(Although my project didn’t go anywhere, I fell in love with Geocaching. l downloaded the app and then tried to find the treasure and it took me to Edinburgh which I hadn’t been to . It was really great fun!)
