Week3 | Tutorial with Prof Neil about Organisation Report

2 February 2020

I don’t know much about curatorial organisations, so when I know I needed to find an organisation, I was inclined to look for a small non-profit organisation, as I was worried, I wouldn’t have the ability to explore large organisations. Secondly I wanted the organisation to have a curatorial history in feminism, this was the direction I was interested in going. Sadly I didn’t find one before Tuesday’s tutorial.

The Handbook provides nine examples, and after the tutorial I went back to their pages to research them, and Create Time caught my eye. Although it is a large organisation (I ruled it out the first time because it was too big for me), their core value of ‘artists’ voices are important in shaping society’ was in line with my views. The organisation’s vision, priorities and view on public space made me agree.

In addition, Create Time, as an art institution, not only has exhibitions, but also holds summits related to art and social issues, which are worthy of my research and discussion.

So my example of an Organisational Report is Create Time, and I will then go through the different directions that Create Time takes as an artistic organisation, how it behaves in different directions, and summarise which parts might generate different ‘platforms’ for my own program.
