[SEM2] Site Week 3 01/29/2022

I’m still preparing my analogue equipments and looking forward to able to start shooting next week hopefully.  I’m studying different film stocks and analogue cameras to make sure I know how everything works technically and what I’m looking for while shooting my project. I’m also doing more research on photographic theories/photographic realism/history of photography to consolidate my theoretical knowledge in photography.

Yorgo Alexopoulos is one of the artists that I found that may act as a suitable point of reference for my project this semester. He combines a variety of media into immersive fine art installations and artworks. His moving image works that fuse painting, drawing, photography, and cinematography into video installations and mixed-media sculptures are similar to my approach towards mixed media. He often presents these works by combining and synchronizing multiple monitors or projections. Since Alexpoulos usually uses animated grid of digitally manipulated paintings, photographs and graphics move across the screen, it seems perfectly reasonable for me to take it a step further with analogue films. With analogue film roles, there are so many different ways to create copies and extract the content out of the negatives both physically and digitally.
