Tim Kowalczyk
Kowalczyk is a ceramic artist based in Illinois who uses clay to mimic the appearance of everyday objects and materials such as tin cans, spray paint cans and squashed cardboard. He had made a number of mugs using this method which he then sells along with matching pour overs and plates. His work takes the base recognisable design of a ceramic mug but alters it to appear like something unusable. Despite this his tableware works are intended to be used as the everyday objects they are based on.

Ulla-Stina Wikander
Wikander is a found object artist who creates sculptures using old 70s appliances/ items and cross stitch embroidery. She makes a wide range of pieces but I have chosen to show this one in particular due to its relevancy to my project . In contrast to Tim Kowalczyk’s work, Wikander’s is unusable and instead simply shows off the physical design of the objects she has found and transformed.
