Aspects of digital environments I hope to address
Reflect on any specific aspects of digital environments for learning you hope to address through the course, you asked me in your comment. I have taken some time to mull this over.
In a way, I am trying to understand what is different in online learning; how the learning takes place differently (if it does) so that we can adopt our teaching and the way we engage with our learners if necessary.
More practically, I am looking for a way to present our course that will make it easy to engage with from any device or bandwidth. Most of our teachers work in the NHS and the technology has had a very limiting effect on their ability to teach their students. Between the technology and the lack of time, even more so during the pandemic, some of them have really struggled to teach their own students, let alone make time for CPD.
Thanks for the post. I hope that the course provides an opportunity for critically thinking about what we mean by teaching online. Partly, this is done through exposing you to many different environments for learning and theories on teaching and learning. Clearly, how particular technologies and applications both shape pedagogical choices but how applications can be shaped towards supporting teaching and learning will be of interest. For example, blogs and Twitter were not designed as learning environments but can be used in that way.
