Definition of a Learning Space

A Learning Space is a space where you are enabled to learn. Traditionally, this is a quiet space, free from distractions. A learning space should enhance the acquisition of knowledge, allow the learner to process the knowledge, apply the knowledge and ultimately create something, using that knowledge.

I don’t think a learning space need be a traditional classroom, study or library. A learning space can be anywhere, as long as the learner feels able to learn. Some people like listening to music, eating, multi-tasking. My daughter watches Grey’s Anatomy and manages to write essays. My son likes to be beside his fish aquarium as the fish soothe him and help him concentrate. My husband has a study. I can work anywhere. Today I am working on the veranda, with a laptop and iPad and notebook, sitting on a sofa. Listening to Mozart.

A learning space does not need to be a physical place. It can also be a digital space. It can be a book. It can be a film. It can be an experience. It is a space where you are enabled to learn.

An interesting post and nicely articulating a learning space as “A learning space does not need to be a physical place. It can also be a digital space. It can be a book. It can be a film. It can be an experience. It is a space where you are enabled to learn”. I note that the spaces you mention can all be seen as individual spaces rather than social spaces as such.
