I decided to change the design of the data.subject1 posts I was making using peoples ads interests, so they were displaying the information in a more visual way. I made a collage of their personal interests in the centre (plus their profile picture), then surrounded it with black and white images of their Instagram Ads Interests.
After showing this in a crit group, I was told that this new format encouraged them to look for visual links between the two interest groups, which made them a lot more engaging then my previous posts which were quite text heavy, which isn’t ideal for an Instagram post.
I recently conducted a poll on Instagram, to get peoples opinions on certain subjects relating to the topic I’m researching. I have presented the results in this series of graphics, however I’m not yet sure how I can process these findings into something more meaningful/impactful.
The results seem to show a general ambivalence towards surveillance and online advertising, although it’s interesting to see that despite the majority of people not changing their personalisation settings, most claim to not interact with adverts they see online.
I have been experimenting with other ways in which I can make art and poetry from computer learning. Using the notes app on my phone, I typed a primary colour, then continued the paragraph by selecting the words my phone predicted I would use. This produced the following:

I then revisited the site Melobytes to turn these words into an AI generated video. To do so, I needed to format this text into a subtitle file, which meant breaking the works up into short phrases. Since there’s no punctuation in my original text, I found that the ‘meaning’ seemed to change depending on wherever I made a break. The videos that Melobytes generated uses images it finds that it deems relevant to the text that it is presented.
