Before making a larger lobster, I decided to first experiment with the wax of babybels. The main objective here is to figure out different modifying and altering methods and how they aesthetically look. For the first three images, I’ve simply used my hands to mash and combine pieces to create claw-like shapes. Afterwards, I used the heat of a candle to attach two pieces together.

For me, this method was effective for creating the contours and forms easily, however, it did lead to blotchy and dimply surfaces. I have tried to use a candle to melt it again to create a smooth effect, however, it has not achieved my desired look. Another method I have used is to melt all of the wax (using a double boiler) and to create a flat sheet for me to work with.
