Developing a Project Idea
So, after an initial brainstorm during this past week I have come up with a variety of different possible themes or applications that interest me within the field of Data and AI Ethics. For the moment, these themes are generally quite broad and may even seem a bit far-fetched!
However, before choosing any specific topic I’d like to have the opportunity to interact with the course content a bit more, as well as be exposed to inter-disciplinary academic insights to further explore and develop my specific interests.
The following list are my initial thoughts to which possible application areas of data and AI ethics I’d like to address:
Value Creation
- Service logic vs a goods-centric logic lens in AI
- The importance of a value creation and co-creation lens/ paradigm/ framework in AI systems
- The importance of the value creation aspect in AI systems, technology – human interactions (and vice-versa) as well as human-human interactions
World of Work
- Enhancing human workers through AI vs replacing humans in favour of automated processes
Macro Lens
- A transparent AI-powered system, encoded with ethical guidelines, to serve as a foundational model/ structure (A sort of blueprint of a proposed system)
- The moral/ legal responsibility of AI developers, in respect to economic and political impacts, in creating a nature centric AI that is configured ethically
- The need for a unified societal policy, a modular approach in a transparent system
- The transformed role of data in the 21st century and beyond
- A proposal for a proactive approach to governance, based on democratic values, to guide the development of AI for social good
Privacy – Macro
- The paradox of privacy, the individual to group level, via a decentralised data-ownership approach
- Re-thinking the approach to privacy, fairness and justice within AI systems
Continuation of the research area I undertook in my undergraduate
- AI in banking, changing interactions between banks and customers and how this affects the creation of value-in-use for the customer
