This is my final piece for ‘Found Object’. I added an owl and fox to the composition of one of the development pieces using the same sketch and photoshop methods as before. There were a few things that I wanted to achieve with the aesthetics of this piece. As with Harriet Horton’s work, I wanted to make something that was modern and striking, but without straying so far from the taxidermy source material that it become unrecognisable. I wanted it to be aesthetically pleasing as an art piece, which is why I carefully considered the composition of the animals to make shapes that were easy for the eyes to ‘read’. I also reduced the output levels of the owl and fox to make it seem as if there are emerging from the darkness to give the piece a sense of depth.
