Extraordinary Object: starting points

Mindmaps and notes from this morning (28/9) – introduction to the Extraordinary Object project, then my own thoughts, with additions after the afternoon tutorial.

I’ve started with my (recently broken) hot water bottle – its got some interesting properties I can play with in terms of being a container, flexible, textured etc. as well as connotations of comfort and warmth.

The tutorial discussion involved discussions about associating objects with animals, such as an umbrella with a bat, alongside associations of hot water bottles involving the danger of hot water, burns, and possible human characteristics.

My current plan is to start by printing with my hot water bottle, then filling and freezing it.
