As part of my research, I recently watched Machine Gun Kelly’s new film/music video, Downfalls High. The soundtrack to the film is the songs from Machine Gun Kelly’s Tickets to My Downfall album. The film follows a story of an outcasted teenager who falls in love with a popular girl. The popular girl then gets into a car crash and she dies. Her last wish was for her boyfriend to start a band in her honour. The film and album made me think about Green Day’s American Idiot because that album also follows a similar story. The film is also similar to the music video for Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day. This is something I’ve been thinking about for my album. I’ve been thinking about making a film as visuals for the soundscapes. After the tutorial with Jesse Jones, I realised that it’s the stories of human experiences that interest me the most, so I feel like this is the best way to go with my practice.
