March 1, 2022 – Feb 28, 2023:
March 2022: Network begins; Edinburgh University hosted website for the Network is launched; the website is updated with new sections and entries in the next months to be live for five years.
April: Call for Papers is announced for conferences in Sep 22 (Edinburgh) and Jan 23 (Guwahati). Conference venues are booked. Steering committee is informed; invited speakers and probable chairs are contacted.
May-June: Call for Papers closes; selection of papers is completed; delegates are sent confirmation and logistical information. Website updated with the Edinburgh programme.
May-June-July: Conversation begins with delegates for travel, visa and bursaries; hospitality is arranged.
Aug: Edinburgh conference fliers are made; website is updated; conference details are launched, and programme with abstracts and venue is updated; if required, CfP for Guwahati is relaunched for a month.
Sep: 2-day Conference in Edinburgh; 90 mins sessions with 3 papers, each maximum 20 mins.; 4 sessions every day; parallel panels only if required; a final session core member meeting is held to discuss the Network; report prepared for the Sep conference
Oct-Nov: programme updated with venue for Guwahati conference; visa and travel conversations begin with delegates.
Jan 2022: 2-day conference in Guwahati; same format
Feb: Selection of papers for the proposed journal special issue and edited volume by the three organisers and the Steering committee. The organisers approach potential publications. We involve their editors at the planning process including inviting them to the proposed workshop in Edinburgh.
March 1, 2023 – Feb 28 2024:
March: Authors invited to submit drafts of full papers for authors’ workshop in Edinburgh. First media piece sent for consideration in Scottish/British based media publication about Network activities; room booked for authors’ workshop in Sep 2023.
April-May: Conversation with NLS staff about event in Sep; room booked; catering and hospitality information are taken care of; exhibition plan begins with curator
May-June: liaising with selected delegates for authors’ workshop (travel and accommodation).
Jun-Aug: Co-applicants in India begin work for public event in Kolkata, conversing with curators, materials, theatre groups for play adaptation, and famine film curation;
Sep: Authors’ workshop at NLS; since full papers will have been circulated beforehand, authors are asked to present shorter versions, with lead discussants in every panel. These will be 1.30-hr long sessions of 2 papers each, in total 16 papers; 2 public lectures; final core member meeting to discuss partnerships and collaborations and future research bids from the Network. Online participation is sought for budgetary adjustment.
Oct-Dec: Authors are asked to submit final drafts of their papers for publication.
Dec: 2-day Public event in Kolkata, exhibition, public lectures, adaptation, film curation.
Jan 2024: Authors submit full draft of their papers (7000 words including references); we send for consideration the second and final Bangla news piece about the recently concluded event of memorialising the Indian famines in Kolkata.
Feb: We submit papers for special issue and edited volume; website is updated; final online meeting with co-applicants for proposed future projects and network is carried out; website continues to exist for the next years; email conversations continue; project ends.
