Angela Sturniolo, Research Support Officer, highlights the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships Round 9 and shares what applicants need to know about the University of Edinburgh internal demand management process for this call.
About the Future Leaders Fellowships
The UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships Round 9 is now open.
The UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship scheme is for early career researchers and innovators who are transitioning to or establishing independence, or may be developing their own plan within a commercial setting.
The Fellowship offers funding for four years at first, with an option to renew for a further three years. One of the most compelling aspects of this scheme, however, is that successful applicants are expected to be supported with a permanent position after the funded period of the fellowship.
Applications are welcomed from the entirety of the UKRI remit but applications from Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences are encouraged.
Applicants do not necessarily need to hold a PhD and there are no eligibility rules based on the number of years since your PhD was awarded. However, if you don’t hold a PhD you have to demonstrate equivalent research or innovation experience or training. The fellowship also offers flexibility to support outstanding individuals:
- From diverse backgrounds
- Returning from a career break
- Wishing to work part-time or in job share
- Coming to UK from abroad
For more information and guidance on the funder application process, please visit the UKRI website.
