In today’s blog post, Sophie Lowry, Strategic Research Executive, writes about the newly launched Research Policy and Horizon Scanning Hub.
We have recently launched an online hub dedicated to identifying and sharing insights from horizon scanning and intelligence gathered on research and innovation policy. The Research Policy and Horizon Scanning Hub (UoE access only) organises a range of content developed by the Strategic Research Development Team in Edinburgh Research Office.
The hub provides the research community with a one-stop shop to track government and funder policy changes from early ideas – ‘the speculative stage’ – to opportunities to influence the direction of travel – ‘the emerging stage’ – to embedding the policy change on the ground. These different stages of the policy journey are described in further detail on the hub, and aim to give the research community insight into how the research policy journey tends to work.
The hub can help colleagues to:
- Find information on potential or upcoming changes to the UK’s research funding environment;
- Discover more about funder and government research strategies and priorities by accessing written briefings and summary documents in one place.
In launching this hub, we hope to enhance evidence-based decision making on University research strategy development through the effective use of horizon scanning and intelligence gathering.
