Fast Talking PI

Selina Tusitala Marsh runs poetry workshops for students in Samoa. She begins the session performing her identity chant, Fast Talking PI. Students are then guided in writing their own identity chant, using Fast Talking PI as their rhythmic metric and rhyming template. They are prompted to use vivid, specific details and concrete images from their own lives to compose their own identity chant. Selina then choreographs a group performance of each person’s identity chant, using the body, in a safe and playful way.
