Resources
The main historical reconstruction lab is set up like a kitchen, with mortars and pestles, heat sources, spoons, bowls pans etc and a sink. Here we focus kitchen on research and teaching into premodern recipes with food or cosmetic-grade materials. All activities go through risk assessments and we provide safety data sheets for more unfamiliar materials.
Students, Edinburgh academics and visiting scholars can also request access to the wide range of facilities in our Archaeology Labs. This includes a fume hood, a wide range of analytical processing equipment, and 3D scanning and printing. These facilities and more are also available for commercial use.
There are also extensive facilities in Edinburgh College of Art which are available to CfHRR members and affiliates on request and depending on availability. Thes include a pottery kiln, a foundry and casting room, a glass workshop, music rooms and a printing studio, including historic moveable type printers.
Please contact CfHRR@ed.ac.uk to discuss the use of any of these facilities.
