Graduation day messages of gratitude and celebration

Students congratulating each other outside McEwan Hall.

We asked our graduates if they had any messages to share with each other on their graduation day – to congratulate each other or to recognise their extraordinary achievements.

Here’s a selection of the messages we received.

A huge congratulations to all my friends on the [Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health] Masters programme. You are an inspiration and it’s been an honour to have worked alongside you all over the past few years.

Karen Blackport

I’ve officially graduated with a Master of Medical Sciences (with distinction) through a research program generously funded by Beit Trust. Grateful for the incredible journey and the support that made this achievement possible. Here’s to the next chapter! 🥂 Mum, Dad, I “MASTERED” it!

Lengwe Bupalo Sinkala

I’m deeply grateful to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for this wonderful opportunity to learn the various transdisciplinary approaches for tackling the complex challenges of infectious diseases and broader global health issues. I wish my coursemates well as they continue to put in practice all they have learnt on this programme.

Having completed an online course in ChM Trauma & Orthopaedics from such a prestigious university. it is going a dream come true to attend the graduation ceremony celebrations at the premises of Edinburgh University itself. I am very much immersed and involved in the celebratory fervour.

I really enjoyed studying for my masters in biodiversity, wildlife and ecosystem health online through the university of Edinburgh. It’s fantastic to be able to graduate here in person and to celebrate alongside my peers and tutors.

Abby Bruce

It’s been a long and tough journey through the last 3 years, especially as we faced the COVID-19 pandemic. With determination, support of family, friends, classmates and the University Team, we all survived in one piece and excelled while doing it. To look forward to a brighter and prosperous future together.

Dhina Bandhu Pal

Today is a day of celebration. It is a day to recognize all of our hard work and dedication. It is a day to look back on our accomplishments and celebrate our success. But it is also a day to look forward to the future and all of the possibilities that await us.

Over the past years, we have grown and matured in ways that we never thought possible in the first place. We have learned new skills, made new friends, and discovered new passions. We have also faced challenges and overcome obstacles. But through it all, we have persevered.

Today, we stand as graduates, ready to take on the next chapter of our lives. We have been preparing for this moment for our entire lives. Congratulations, graduates! The world is yours for the taking. So go forth with confidence and know that you are capable of great things. Never forget to dream big.
