MSc students venture into the dark history of Edinburgh

A group of MSc students braved the element and joined a guided hunted tour of Edinburgh. In the two hours it took to complete the appropriately named Double Dead tour, we were taken to the South Bridge Vaults and to the Covenanter’s Prison in Greyfriars Graveyard.

It was in the vaults where we had to face a few moments in total darkness listening carefully to the presence of supernatural forces. Luckily a pair of ‘glow in the dark’ boots offered some reassurance to those who found the experience too frightening.  The guide was excellent in sharing his in-depth knowledge of the history of Edinburgh, peppering his tales with a wicked sense of humour. The Black Mausoleum, where we were led to in the second part of the tour, was described as somewhat different from Edinburgh’s other haunted locations.   We were told about documented ‘attacks’ and were subjected to a most frightening experience a few meters away from Teviot place!

Overall a great night out and was enjoyed by all!
