A final gathering for the MN in clinical research students

The Master of Nursing in Clinical Research – a final ‘get together’ for the 2014-15 group, 10th September 2015

Almost exactly a year on from initial introductions, the Master of Nursing in Clinical Research 2014/15 group assembled for the final time.

It was a chance to reflect on the past year with staff, research mentors and each other. The tone was set with a delicious spread that could have sprung from an Enid Blyton tale: from homemade mini-pavlovas to the retro delights of marshmallows dipped in chocolate! Conversation flowed freely amongst the group of research-focused colleagues. Real warmth of friendship was evident in the room.

Presentations followed which captured the cohort’s individual experiences of the Masters. The small yet hugely varied group of students provided insight into their own learning and stimulation from the programme. Uniformly confident and dynamic presentations highlighted the strength of research practice attachments and the academic underpinning gained through the range of modules studied throughout the year. Of particular note to all students was the academic and personal relationships developed with members of the group. A critical mass, perhaps..?

Megan McGrath's talk

The afternoon was drawn to a close with a vote of thanks to all those involved with supporting the students through the year. The lucky Nursing Studies department gained a Nespresso machine and Tonks was presented with flowers and an outpouring of love.

MNs with TF

The group now look forward to new adventures in research with PhD opportunities and specialist research nurse roles; once more, clearly evidence of both the strength and viability of this unique programme.
