Dr Leah Macaden, Senior Lecturer in Nursing Studies, has been awarded a Fellowship Ad Eundem by the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

What is the RCSI Nursing Fellowship?
The Fellowship of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland [RCSI] is a prestigious qualification awarded to nurses and midwives who demonstrate exceptional leadership and contributions to their profession. This fellowship allows members to join a global professional network and access various research and networking events.
Categories of Fellowship
The RCSI Nursing Fellowship is awarded in four categories:
1. Honorary Fellowship: For individuals who have made significant contributions to nursing and midwifery.
2. Fellow Ad Eundem: For those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in nursing or related sciences.
3. Fellow by Election: For candidates recognized for their outstanding work in the profession.
4. Fellow by Examination: For those who meet specific criteria and successfully complete the application process.

The Fellowship Ad Eundem is given to candidates in recognition of outstanding work and/or exceptional leadership in the professions of nursing and midwifery or a related science, those who have given significant service to the profession or those who have positively influenced and impacted on health and society. Candidates for these awards are recommended by the Board of the Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery for review and ratification by the Surgery and Postgraduate Faculties Board, RCSI.
Dr Leah Macaden, Senior Lecturer in Nursing Studies was recognised as a Fellow Ad Eundem at the annual conferring ceremony by the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of the RCSI in Dublin on the 8th of December, 2025. She was one of 10 Fellows to receive this honour from around the globe this year.
