NEWDIA4Planet – MSCA Project

Individual Fellowship project supported by Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions

Work Package 2: System production

The new internal-resistive heaters were fabricated from Re and Pt-Ir alloy thin-foils. The heaters were incorporated into a DAC as designed in WP1, together with an insulated composite gasket, which supports both the sample and the heater(s) between diamond-anvils. The Fellow also established the photolithography process for patterning a thin-film heater on a diamond-anvil, and received training for operation of a thin-film deposition system, which was intended to be used for deposition of Al2O3 insulation layer on a diamond anvil.

Microscopic pictures of the Pt-Ir heater with Mg2SiO4 as a sample, taken before (a), during (b), and after (c) heating. The sample is sandwiched between two heaters, enabling double-sided heating.
