Beyond the Object: Design in the Cloud, Room 9 (basement, across from H&C), Mackintosh Building, Glasgow School of Art, 9:30am, Thursday 15th March 2012.
Here is Nicholas Oddy’s description of the lecture:
“In this final session we consider if we have moved too far beyond the object? In a world of artistic creative practice dominated by ideas of conceptualism, higher education dumping activity in the studio crafts disciplines, design thinking progressively moving away from artifacts into systems and history that rejects the traditions of connoisseurship and object appreciation, is there a danger that studio practice is losing touch with its raison d’etre, or is all this a healthy indication of an ever deepening understanding of how it fits into a larger society?”
