Friday 25th April

Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

Please do take a look at our new LTW Colleague Hub SharePoint — your go-to space for staying connected and in-the-know about what’s happening across the directorate. Whether it’s LTW news, upcoming events, or team highlights, everything you need is now in one place.

It’s an ongoing project in response to your feedback that it was sometimes hard to know what other LTW teams were doing. The hub has got photos of you all and what you do, and where you mostly are sitting. If you can think of content which should be added,  let Fiona Hendrie know what you’d like to contribute.   It also includes a count-down and instructions for   LTW Mandatory Training Day if you want to get a head start.

Also for you to look at is the newly created ISG Summer Intern data dashboard, which compares our summer intern satisfaction across the past four Unitemps surveys. The purpose is for it to make the survey data more visible and easier to compare year on year, for both the Unitemps team and line managers across ISG. There is also a demographics section (unlinked to the responses) showing the demographic make-up of respondents and it may give you some things to think about before this round of summer interns arrive. Have a think about how the summer interns might use the Hub to discover what we do, who we are and how they fit in to our larger LTW picture.

Tess recently  ran a really fun digital escape room for the DSDT section meeting, if people want to do the same, she’s put together a blog post on her process: https://blogs.ed.ac.uk/tess/professional-learning/hosting-collaboration-by-design/

With term finishing, many of our teams are launching fully back into ‘projects mode’ to get as much done as possible before the festivals and teaching start again. The Learning Spaces Technology team have upgraded our Ormerod training room in the Main Library  and I am particularly liking the bee-themed honeycomb tables. I suspect that Eleanor the etymologist would approve.

Have a good weekend,

-Melissa
