Friday 6th February

Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

I am pleased to see that LTW make up 28% of the shortlisted in the ISG staff awards.  Shortlist Announced for the 2025 ISG Staff Recognition Awards We started with 70 nominations, so fingers crossed for a good conversion rate. I hope you have your acceptance speeches ready. If not, you may want to volunteer to be involved in the judging next year!

Thank you to all involved in doing the heavy lifting to move our Media Hopper Media Studio (mostly) to its new location at Forrest Hill.  I am looking forward to a tour and a glass of fizz in the green room.

Great to see Dono, Emma, Ricarda and Hannah blogging:

You’ll have seen an announcement to check out the new online, self-paced course on ‘Competence Standards and Reasonable Adjustments’ available via People and Money. If you identify as teaching staff or staff who support teaching, please take a look. While you are there, you can check out ‘Fundamentals of Teaching’. Both courses contain hints on how colleagues might make use of technology in teaching, so we should make sure our services align with this advice.

As you browse through the training, I know you will  be thinking: ‘I wonder when LTW mandatory training day will be this year?’  Friday 22nd of May.

For the foodies amongst you we have our bake sale coming up next week Bakers wanted for next week!  Enjoy some sweetness, learn from Alessandra about World Nutella Day! and be nostalgic for a nicer Ambassador’s reception than Mandelson’s.

After our bake sale to wave goodbye to Argyle House, we all go home for lunar new year, the school holidays and Ramadan. (Except our many colleagues who stay on campus, and anyone who comes in for meetings in EFI or CSH, or anyone working in the main library, and anyone who needs a place to work away from home).

We will reconvene LTW hybrid working province at Forrest Hill in middle-March.

  • For the most part anchor days remain the same in FH as AH.
  • Fridays remain ‘No meetings so I can catch up on writing’ days.
  • Management and project emails should not be sent before 8am or after 6pm.
  • 2 days a week on campus is the minimum
  • The big change will be the need to book desks, meeting rooms, find lockers and bike racks
  • LTW will be split across FH and Main Library, as well as our satellites.
  • We will have to employ creative strategies to find each other again.
  • We will have to employ creative strategies to re-instate the Brenda Moon, Annie Numbers, Irene Young and Marjorie Rackstraw rooms Naming Spaces.
  • We will review how it is all going after 3 months and at our summer LTW All-staff meeting.

Have a good weekend- plenty of sport and politics to watch as you plan your bakes.

-Melissa
