Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

Congratulations to James Slack in EDE for securing one of our ISG internal promoted posts.  James will be demonstrating a range of skills in his new role, and at our final LTW Argyle-House Forget-Me-Not bake sale. Ae fareweel! Goodbye to Argyle House Bake Sale

(I note we are also searching for a G9 new Head of Enterprise Architecture  Opportunity Marketplace – Job Information – Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, less baking skill required, but a chance to shape the environment in which we work.)

Do you remember Goldbergs? Did you know they were the first store to implement EPoS?  Join us to improve the Wikipedia pages about Jewish history in Scotland Jewish history in Scotland – filling the gaps on Wikipedia

Speaking of history, for your Burns Night anecdotes, you’ll see the Galleries have found a lost Raeburn, but you’ll want to know about his skull in our collections Robert Burns’ skull – Wikipedia . And for your edgy poetry-based comment on the current geo-political situation may I recommend:

“It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say:–
“We invaded you last night–we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

Dane-Geld by Rudyard Kipling

As you can see from the comms coming out about our office moves Where we work. There will be a gap where those of you who can, should work from home.  Many of you remember some periods of working entirely from home during the lock downs, and I am sure we will manage again.

“When the waves are round me breaking,
As I pace the desk along,
And my eye in vain is seeking,
Some green seat to rest upon ;
What would I not give to wander,
Where my old companions dwell,
Absence makes the heart grow fonder,
Aisle of desks—fare-thee-well.”

Isle of beauty fare-thee-well – Emigration & farewells – English ballads – National Library of Scotland

Have a good weekend,
