Friday 4th July
Dear All,
Thank you for you work this week.
It was great to have such a large turn out at the LTW All-staff meeting on Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who made it a success.
I was sorry to miss the meeting and I know you spoke about career progression and the importance of lifelong learning. I was absent because I was caring for my mother who, back in the day, was a bit of a lifelong learning radical herself. You can read about her work on this blog Oh WOW! Women at Work in the 1980s – Diverse Collections which may give some insights into what has influenced my own enthusiasm for the work we do in LTW to widen access to new careers, skills, learning and courses.
Speaking of blogging, I hope some of you are able to attend Fiona’s workshop on impactful blogging today and are taking the opportunity to read what others are writing. Like this one Diary of an Accessibility Intern (Weeks 1-4) – Digital Learning Applications and Media
Graduations are in full swing. Congratulations to Alan Hamilton on getting bopped on the head by John Knox’s breeches. Thank you to all the AV teams who ensure these ceremonies are a success. I’ll be there myself on Wednesday for a proud family moment.
Speaking of awards and celebrations, Congratulations to Paul, Karen and all the Learn teams on being named as 2025 Catalyst Award winners! LTW’s Learn Foundations Internship wins top international award
If you would like to win more awards please join me in nominating colleagues and work friends for the ISG staff awards. New Ways to Shine: Announcing Updated Categories for the 2025 ISG Staff Recognition Awards LTW has a spectacular track record in these awards both in the number of nominations we make and in the awards we win. Best wishes,
-Melissa
